Foose-Gottschall
Cemetery Rededication
The Foose-Gottschall Cemetery Association was established to preserve the old family cemetery. This cemetery is located in the pastures behind what was called the Gene Stauffer house (owner may have changed) and was watched over by a single, very old cedar tree in 1988. The field road that leads from the house to the cemetery was once the main road from what is now Nuremberg to Buck Glen, a small and long abandoned early settlement at the west end of the Buck’s mountain. This road seems to have run through the cemetery area, then out through the woods to the north. Several old church records refer to the cemetery as “Buck Glen” cemetery. In 2000, the association held a rededication of the cemetery, after a multi-year program to more accurately identify and preserve the aging, weathering headstones and other markers. The results of this work are shown in the Foose-Gottschall Cemetery Information Document below. I've put photographs of the cemetery taken in 1988, and maps to the church and cemetery, under the Photography heading. -.ZIP format (380 KB) -.PDF format (684 KB) Sample Pages: (Click on thumbnail for large image in new window)
